Petri dish: part II and height/weight indicators

Danielle took Riley to the doctor again this morning. I say again because it seems like he is always ill. He’s running a temperature between 100F - 102F and is not overly happy about it. He just got over an illness last week that left both of us sick but hit Danielle harder with a bad case of laryngitis. I have a feeling it was the same cold strain because Riley had a croupy cough for a few days before she lost her voice. Croup, as we found out previously, is the infant equivalent of croup.

The pediatrician told Danielle that a virus is going around that is knocking infants/children up with midgrade temperatures ~ 102F. We’ll go back to see the doc if he hasn’t broken this in 4 days or if his temperature goes above 104F. In the meanwhile, no daycare for Riley - we might as well kill of the strain that he probably picked up from there…

Regarding height/weight indicators - we did not update where Riley stands. At his 9 month checkup a few weeks ago, his ratios are as follows:

  • Height - 97%
  • Weight - 48%
  • If he maintains the same growth curve, at age 17 he’ll be a bean pole coming in at:

  • 6′5″ (~ 198cm)
  • 160lb ( ~ 73kg)
  • Highly doubtful this will happen since growth curves are not fixed until atleast 18 months or 3 years depending on who you believe on the Internet…
